Job Summary :

To monitor, recognize and interpret Basic EKG parameters and initiate response appropriately in emergent situations. To follow organizational and regulatory guidelines as related to daily responsibilities. To use judgment to follow standards of care, consistent with telemetry orders and physician’s orders.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities: 

1. Fiscal Responsibility

a. efficiently use supplies and equipment, fill out appropriate work orders, and support unit goals to eliminate waste

b. complete assignments and duties in a timely manner

c. comply with staffing guidelines, call-in, arrival and end shift on time and utilize time keeping system

d. demonstrate productivity and accepts EDO and float assignments

e. maintain telemetry equipment and troubleshoot monitoring system

2. Quality

a. participate and appropriately document per unit specific standards and remain up to date with policy changes

b. possess ability to problem solve and to multitask within their scope of practice

c. offer suggestions to improve unit flow for patient experience

d. accept delegation of tasks appropriately

e. engage in teamwork

3. Patient Satisfaction

a. promote patient satisfaction as exemplified by patient recognition, letters from patients and families, or SEA (Service Excellence Award)

b. timely response to patient needs

c. practice professional use of personal electronic devices in patient care areas

d. exemplifies excellent guest relations to patients, family members, visitors, physicians and associates

e. maintain professional environment and keep noise to a minimum at all times

4. Patient Safety

a. effectively communicate with patient units

b. recognize and report any telemetry changes and life threatening dysrhythmias in  a timely fashion to the appropriate patient unit

c. utilize the event management system for each unusual occurrence

d. adjust care routines to meet the individual patient needs

e. adhere to HIPAA and follow social media policy

5. Professional Growth

a. share knowledge and skills with colleagues and others including orientation and cross-training

b. demonstrate leadership and be a resource for peers, be an active council member, be a super  user, or serve as a preceptor…

c. identify professional needs and collaborates with management for learning opportunities for self  and for the unit

d. participate in development and implementation of departmental goals

e. attend product and practice change in-services

6. Customer Service

a. timely equipment preparation

b. contribute toward a professional and quiet patient environment

c. demonstrate proper phone etiquette

d. promote commitment to co-workers, view all staff as part of an equal team and be approachable at all times, and maintain interdepartmental relationships

e. be flexible with assignments, staffing needs and assigned shifts

Education and Experience Required: 

1. High School graduate or equivalent 

2. Successful completion of the Basic EKG course competency subsequent to hire.
