Indiana Tube Corporation (ITC) is a manufacturer of low carbon mechanical grade welded steel tubing used for diverse industries worldwide. ITC products are used in a variety of fluid & gas carrying applications for Automotive, Large Truck, Heavy Equipment, Oil & Gas, Agriculture, Heating & Air, and Refrigeration. Additionally, ITC manufactures non-fluid carrying tube for applications such as heating elements, welding rods, tubular handles, seating components, sun visor rods, and filtration products. ITC Manufactures a wide range of tube diameter and wall thickness in both Standard and Metric sizes.

 

ITC has multiple openings for our Fab Inspector position.  We offer great benefits, with starting pay at $23.15-$24.40 per hour.

 

Position Summary

The Fabrication Inspector is responsible for inspecting fabricated products throughout the manufacturing process to ensure they meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, quality standards, and company requirements. This position works closely with production personnel to identify quality concerns, verify corrective actions, and promote continuous improvement while maintaining a safe work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process and final inspections of fabricated products.
  • Verify product dimensions using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, tape measures, height gauges, squares, and other inspection equipment.
  • Inspect welded assemblies for conformance to specifications and workmanship standards.
  • Verify hole locations, cut lengths, bends, weld quality, and overall part dimensions.
  • Document inspection results accurately and maintain required quality records.
  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming material or products.
  • Initiate or assist with nonconformance reports and corrective actions.
  • Work with production personnel to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
  • Conduct visual inspections for defects including dents, scratches, incomplete welds, incorrect dimensions, missing components, or damage.
  • Verify proper identification and traceability of materials and finished products.
  • Assist with customer audits and internal quality audits as needed.
  • Maintain inspection equipment and ensure calibration requirements are met.
  • Follow all safety procedures, quality policies, and company procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of measuring techniques and inspection methods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Manufacturing, fabrication, or quality inspection experience preferred.
  • Experience in steel manufacturing or metal fabrication is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ISO quality systems is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand and walk throughout the shift.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach as required.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and detect visual defects.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, and moving equipment.

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing and fabrication environment.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe footwear, gloves, and other required PPE.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and industrial noise.
