POSITION PURPOSE 

NEXPERA's General Mechanic will regularly perform mechanical maintenance of field and plant equipment and facilities.


PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):


  • Support Plant and Field Operations

  • Effective execution of preventive and predictive maintenance schedules/protocols

  • Troubleshoot equipment performance and restore assets as needed to optimal performance levels 

  • Deliver maintenance support for projects

  • Provide oversight of the plant shop, and maintenance tools

  • Support the Process Safety Management and the site personal safety effort

  • Conduct seasonal prep work including preparing equipment and scheduling materials

  • Assure proper set-up, calibration, operation, and preventative maintenance of equipment, machines, and facilities


QUALIFICATIONS:

In order to be qualified for this role, the following is required:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience: One to three (1-3) years of industrial maintenance work experience
  • Skills & Knowledge: 
    • Problem solving skills, conflict resolution skills, and teamwork skills
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Beginning level computer skills
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Certifications:
    • Valid Driver’s License required
    • TWIC required (must be obtained within 30 days of beginning employment) 


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to work for prolonged periods in extremes of hot and cold temperatures and inclement weather conditions.
  • Ability to work around hazardous materials such as sulfuric acid and molten sulfur.
  • Ability to wear required PPE (including FR clothing, respirators, and fall protection equipment).
  • Frequent stooping, bending, climbing, reaching and carrying, use of hand tools (shovels, brooms, sledgehammers, picks) and moving heavy objects.
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, and high-lifts, and to enter and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to respond to emergency call-outs as required by site operations.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime hours including weekend work as required during periods of high plant need
  • Typical Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.
  • Occasional travel to other locations may be required.
