BITCO Corporation is currently seeking an Accountant to join our Accounting team in Davenport, IA. BITCO provides quality insurance services to special industries including construction, forest products, and oil & gas. This position offers the option for a hybrid work schedule after an introductory training period.

Position Summary:
Â
As a key member of the Accounting team, this role is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial data to ensure compliance with internal and external reporting requirements. In addition, the position plays a crucial role in supporting the planning and execution of departmental objectives, with a primary focus on managing the company’s accounting activities.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Monitor external sources of financial information to ensure timely completion of job responsibilities
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Review accounting documents and financial records to identify fluctuations, trends, and anomalies.
- Develop and produce ad hoc financial reports as needed
- Understand and apply relevant federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Identify and recommend procedural improvements for accounting processes, and maintain related documentation
- Ensure compliance with all applicable financial policies, procedures, and controls
- Apply accounting principles and standards, including both statutory and GAAP requirements
- Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders
- Understand and maintain confidentiality of information
- Maintain an appropriate level of knowledge and understanding of assigned responsibilities
- Efficiently utilize accounting information systems and productivity
- Strong understanding of internal control requirements (COSO) and environment
- Frequently work on several tasks at the same time within assigned deadlines
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:Â
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
- 3-5 years of professional accounting
- In depth knowledge and understanding of US GAAP required; strong knowledge and understanding of statutory accounting preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Advanced understanding and application of accounting information and related systems
- Strong problem solving, analytical, and decision making skills
- Strong oral and written communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgement
- Ability to work additional hours as needed.
