Phlebotomy Pathway Program

Our Pathways Programs are designed to support individuals who want to grow in healthcare by providing training, mentorship, and hands-on experience. Participants receive the resources and encouragement needed to build valuable clinical skills while advancing their careers.

Selected candidates will be enrolled in the Trinity College of Nursing & Health Sciences 7-week Phlebotomy Certificate Program while gaining practical experience within our laboratory team.

Responsibilities

Phlebotomy

  • Performs venous, arterial and capillary blood collection, processing and delivery of specimens to departments within Trinity Laboratory. Consistently demonstrates attention to detail in following protocol for patient, sample and identification and labeling.
  • Educates others and maintains knowledge of departmental functions, policies and procedures including AIDET and Focus value.
  • Assists with the training new employees, being helpful supportive in the teaching of new associates.

Quality Assurance

  • Complies with procedures and services, including QA guidelines, in consultation with the assigned laboratory supervisor.
  • Performs technical procedures within specified turnaround time for assigned area.
  • Is responsible for executing and monitoring technical practices of the department in order to meet necessary standards, recommendations and requirements of voluntary and government agencies (ie. CAP, JCAHO)

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.  Phlebotomy course, Medical Assistant, Associate of Arts, preferred.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  Communication skills including reading, writing & speaking fluent english, Adaptability, customer/patient focused, Interpersonal skills and Self-development.

 

Lifting Requirements:  Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
