We are looking to hire a Registered Nurse to join our Interventional Cath Lab Team at MercyOne Genesis in Davenport, Iowa!

Schedule:

  • M-F, first shift hours--64 hours per pay period

  • Call one night per week and every 4th-6th weekend

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct patient care activities in theĀ CathĀ LabĀ & other applicable procedural areasĀ implementing anĀ outcome-basedĀ plan of care
  • IdentifiesĀ learning needs and implements a plan for the patient, conducts patient and family teaching and documents teaching done
  • Appropriately uses equipmentĀ requiredĀ to performĀ CathĀ Lab procedures
  • Understands varying treatment needs and approaches for patients across the life span, asĀ appropriate toĀ the department
  • Performs independently in the role of scrub tech, circulator, and hemodynamic monitor and obtains data collection with physiologic calculations specific to the procedure performed and documents
  • Initiates BLS/ACLS protocols asĀ appropriate inĀ cardiac emergencies
  • Provides careĀ utilizingĀ critical thinking skills based onĀ patients'Ā needs and acuity, and is consistent with policies and procedures of the departmentĀ 
  • Coordinates and provides care with a team approach
  • Demonstrates clinical competencyĀ 
  • Facilitates medication administration,Ā initiatesĀ and manages IV therapy
  • Assures medication safety by following the ā€œ5 Rights of Medication Administrationā€Ā 
  • ManagesĀ patient’sĀ painĀ in accordance withĀ policy
  • Monitors and manages conscious sedation/sedated patientsĀ in accordance withĀ policy
  • Responsible for daily count of controlled substances
  • Cross trained to work inĀ other procedural areas as needed
  • AssistsĀ with and implementsĀ appropriate interventionsĀ during Cardiovascular Procedures under the direction of a licensed professional
  • Communicates relevant clinical information toĀ optimizeĀ patient outcomes to phys. and other health care professionals
  • Documents completely and legibly
  • ConductsĀ an initialĀ assessment and ongoing assessments
  • Completes initial assessmentĀ in accordance withĀ policy
  • Completes ongoing assessments based on patient’s individual needs and/or unit specificĀ time framesĀ 
  • IdentifiesĀ problems, needs and/or changes in patient conditions and implements interventions
  • Performs indirect patient care activities toĀ maintainĀ department standards
  • Cleans andĀ maintainsĀ equipment as needed
  • AssuresĀ all patient care and storage areas are clean and organized
  • AssistsĀ with supply ordering as assigned
  • Participates inĀ unit-basedĀ quality monitoring of patient/procedural outcomes
  • Charges patientĀ accountĀ for procedures and suppliesĀ in a timely manner
  • Demonstrates responsibility for cost-containment in daily practice
  • IdentifiesĀ process improvement opportunities and supports change within the department/organization
  • Participates in and supports precepting and mentoring activities for new employees in the lab as requested by manager
  • Does follow up calls toĀ patientsĀ asĀ assigned.Ā (customer service,Ā fluoroĀ time)Ā 
  • Familiar with regulatory requirements andĀ assistsĀ with surveys as assigned
  • Based on principles of growth and development, provides careĀ appropriate toĀ theĀ age-relatedĀ needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit, which may include:Ā 18-65 Yrs: AdultsĀ and 65+ Yrs: GeriatricsĀ 
  • Collects, analyzes,Ā interpretsĀ and applies age-specific data
  • Performs tasks/procedures, uses equipment in anĀ age-appropriateĀ manner
  • Communicates and works with others in anĀ age-appropriateĀ manner
  • Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures
  • AttendsĀ requiredĀ safety programs
  • Appropriately and consistentlyĀ usesĀ the personal protective equipment requiredĀ ofĀ the job
  • Knows and canĀ demonstrateĀ departmental emergency procedures for fire,Ā disasterĀ and other emergency situations
  • Reports and removes unsafe equipment/furniture
  • Asks forĀ assistanceĀ when needed toĀ assureĀ safety for all involved
  • MaintainsĀ a safe working environment and practices safe working habits
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicableĀ Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and proceduresĀ in order toĀ ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior

General Requirements:

  • Minimum 2Ā years' experienceĀ in Cath Lab or special procedures lab preferred or 3 years critical care experienceĀ 

  • Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa and IL RN license within one year

  • BLSĀ

  • Strong knowledgeĀ baseĀ inĀ cardiac anatomy,Ā physiologyĀ and Cardiac careĀ Ā 

  • Must be able to analyze and interpret basic EKG tracings

  • Knowledge of cardiac medications, hemodynamicĀ monitoringĀ and fundamentals of sterile technique

Education:

  • Associate degreeĀ required,Ā BSN preferred
