Work Schedule: Part-time / project-based; must be available during core hours, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday–Friday.

Position Summary

CFDay is seeking a Mid-Level Technical Writer/Editor to support development and modernization of federal training products and supporting technical documentation for the National Institute of Corrections. The position requires a writer who can work directly with subject matter experts, interpret complex information, and produce clear, concise, accurate training and technical content.

Key Responsibilities

· Plan, coordinate, write, edit, and manage documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

· Develop and revise training collateral, reports, user materials, technical documentation, and related products.

· Interview and collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy.

· Translate complex subject matter into clear, concise content for diverse audiences.

· Produce or support technical illustrations and presentation materials.

· Perform editorial quality assurance and ensure deliverables meet applicable standards and quality requirements.

· Support document layout, production, and finalization.

Required

· Professional technical writing and editing experience.

· Ability to write, edit, and rewrite complex technical materials.

· Experience translating complex information for diverse audiences.

· Experience collecting and interpreting technical information from subject matter experts and technical professionals.

· Experience managing document layout, production, and quality.

· Strong writing, editing, grammar, proofreading, and organizational skills.

· Ability to develop or coordinate technical illustrations for training and presentations.

Preferred

· Experience developing federal training, curriculum, or instructional materials.

· Experience supporting corrections, public safety, law enforcement, or related subject matter.

· Experience working as part of an instructional design or e-learning development team.
