The Department of French and Francophone Studies (FFS) at Davidson College invites applications for a position of Visiting Assistant Professor in French and Francophone studies to begin July 1, 2026. This is a two-year, non-tenure track position carrying a 5-course teaching load per year, which includes a mix of beginner and intermediate language classes, as well as upper-level courses in French. 


We are looking for a Francophone Humanist or Social Scientist whose work explores the artistic, literary, cultural, and historical expressions in one or several of the following areas: the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean, the Pacific, or Vietnam. An additional expertise in digital humanities, diaspora and migration studies is strongly encouraged. A PhD in French and Francophone Studies or a related field is required by start date, as well as command of French and English at a near-native proficiency level. The successful candidate will demonstrate an inclusive, student-centered and engaging teaching style, and a strong commitment to communicative language teaching in the context of a small liberal arts college.
