Job Description:

Are you interested in learning more about financial services and banking operations? Self-Help Federal Credit Unions provide banking services such as checking and savings accounts. We also educate individuals and families on financial wellness.  

We provide responsible financial services, financial education, lending for consumers and small businesses, and commercial real estate financing in key impact areas, such as affordable housing, clean energy, nonprofits, and more. They also advocate in support of under-resourced communities and against predatory lending practices.  

 

Our National Training and Development team is looking for an intern to support the development of a comprehensive training program. 

WHAT You’ll do: 

  • Design a complete 8-day new-hire training program that equips incoming staff with the foundational knowledge, skills, and resources needed to confidently perform in their roles. This includes analyzing current workflows, creating a structured curriculum, and developing facilitator guides, learner materials, job aids, and assessments.  

  • The intern will assist in the creation of a comprehensive consumer lending training program that strengthens staff expertise in lending fundamentals. 

  • Conduct learner and subject matter expert interviews to identify training gaps and workflow challenges across branches and lending operations.  

  • Design and develop high-impact training materials—including facilitator guides, learner workbooks, job aids, and assessments.  

  • Pilot training modules with trainers and collect feedback to refine content, ensuring the programs are accurate, accessible, and aligned with Self-Help’s mission.  

WHAT You’ll Need:     

  • Undergraduate or graduate student, recent graduates welcome to apply    

  • Demonstrate a sincere interest in non-profit work, education, advocacy, or social work    

  • Excellent interpersonal skills    

  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills    

  • Strong organizational skills    

  • An enthusiasm for learning    

  • Strong attention to detail  

This is a paid internship at $24.00 per hour
