The Leidos Defense Sector in Beavercreek, OH is seeking a Firmware Design Engineer to join a growing, high-performance team responsible for solving some of our customers’ most challenging and interesting problems. The successful candidate will utilize their technical expertise and communication skills to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and rewarding environment. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to implement solutions for a variety of FPGA and DSP applications. In addition to implementing firmware, you will collaborate with other engineers on related DSP and software tasks, all with the goal of making a positive impact for our customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review and understand current firmware designs and implementations

  • Modify existing designs to correct or add functionality

  • Implement new firmware and DSP subsystems as defined

  • Collaborate with other firmware developers to implement, improve, and validate designs

  • Support field test activities by operating equipment and troubleshooting issues

Basic Qualifications:

BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline

Minimum 2+ years of relevant professional and/or project experience

Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Experience with the following:

Verilog/VHDL

MATLAB, C/C++

Laboratory test equipment – Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator

Linux

Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

Must be able to clearly articulate conclusions via technical reports and documents

Preferred Qualifications:

Active Secret (or higher) security clearance

Familiarity or experience with the following:

Digital Signal Processing

Embedded software design

Digital, analog, and radio frequency circuits

Revision control (git, SVN)

Scripting languages
