Building Automation Technician

What You'll Do

As a Building Automation Technician, you'll be the expert who ensures our customers' building systems operate efficiently, reliably, and at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, program, configure, and commission building automation and HVAC control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair controllers, sensors, actuators, and communication networks.
  • Perform system start-up, point-to-point checkout, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Configure graphics, schedules, alarms, trends, and system parameters.
  • Diagnose BACnet, Modbus, MS/TP, IP, and other network communication issues.
  • Integrate BAS systems with HVAC equipment, including air handlers, VAV boxes, boilers, chillers, pumps, and rooftop units.
  • Identify system improvements that increase efficiency and performance.
  • Support retrofit, upgrade, and expansion projects.
  • Train customers on system operation and functionality.
  • Build strong relationships through outstanding customer service and technical expertise. 

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Building Automation Systems, HVAC Controls, or Commercial HVAC.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC equipment and control sequences.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings.
  • Knowledge of DDC controls and building automation technologies.
  • Experience with BAS communication protocols such as BACnet.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Alerton, Trane, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Automated Logic, Distech, or similar BAS platforms.
  • Experience with Niagara Framework.
  • HVAC, Controls, or Electrical certifications.
  • Electrical or commercial HVAC background.
  • BAS graphics development or programming experience.
  • Large-scale commercial or industrial commissioning experience. 



Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, crawl spaces, and other commercial or industrial environments.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs and work from lifts when needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and occasionally in confined or elevated spaces.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
