Responsibilities & Requirements

Assist in the development, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of the OTD curriculum.Primary responsibility and duties carried out on the Kettering OTD campus and main campus as program requires. Travel to and from potential and established fieldwork and research sites as required for program functioning.

Must hold a masters degree, specialty certification, or higher Must have documented expertise in areas of curricular responsibilities Must possess the academic and experiential qualifications and backgrounds that are necessary to meet the program objectives and mission of the Kettering College 

If Master's Prepared Must have at least 2 years of experience as an OTR practicing/treating in an Inpatient Psychiatric Unit

Willing to consider Bachelor's prepared candidate with extensive work history in the content area

Preference for some experience in treating children with mental illness and/or behavioral health issues

Preference for some experience with partial hospitalization and/or community-based treatment

 Required LicensesOccupational TherapistCertified by NBCOT as an OTRCurrent, valid license to practice occupational therapy in the State of Ohio Excellent communication skills, both written and verbalGood organizational skills with attention to detail Self-directed, efficient, good time management skills Flexible and adapts well to change Strong ability to respect diversity Attitude of healthcare as service Ethical choices and behaviors

 

Job Responsibilities

Teaching Responsibilities:

 Lead educational experiences in the classroom, community, and online as appropriate Monitor student responses to educational activities and modify teaching techniques as necessary Implement teaching approaches and activities based on adult learning theory pedagogy Design syllabi, assignments, readings, learning activities, exams, and experiences to meet student learning outcomes as designated for course(s) Develop and revise course content to represent current best practice occupational therapy practice In student interactions, reflect values of trustworthy, innovative, caring, competent, collaborative, and respect for diversity Organize course content for optimal student engagement with course content Provide feedback and grades of assignments and tests in a timely manner (2 week maximum) Respond to student and administration communication in a timely manner (2 school days maximum)Form a classroom environment of respect for allDepartmental Responsibilities Participate in course evaluation and revision Participate in curriculum evaluation and revisionStudent mentoring and advisingPossible supervision of research projects OR supervision of doctoral experiencesAttend departmental meetings as requestedAssist in the recruitment of studentsFacilitate development of fieldwork and doctoral experience sitesIn interactions with colleagues and administration, reflect values of trustworthy, innovative, caring, competent, collaborative, and respect for diversityForm a department environment of respect for allCompletes Kettering’s professional development program as indicated by the program director.Develops and completes goals established in her/his professional development plan.Participates in professional, volunteer organizations which include membership in AOTA.Attends all occupational therapy faculty department meetings as requested.Keeps active membership and participation with professional associations (i.e. AOTA, ,etc.) at a national and local level.Other duties as assigned
