JOB SUMMARY

The Manager I, Manufacturing Operations is accountable for creating and maintaining motivation and empowerment of team members, as well as promoting a continuous improvement environment.  Additionally, this Manager is expected to facilitate technical writing program within the department for but not limited to Batch Record, SOP’s, work instructions and investigations.  This role will also facilitate all technical training through departmental trainers to production operators, specialists, and supervisors to ensure proper understanding of technical information.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly manage the Production Supervisors and crews
  • Routinely perform resource analysis in partnership with the Production Planning team to ensure key deliverables are met on time
  • Monitor training schedules in accordance with production needs
  • Ensure processes and SOP’s are being adhered to; identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Participate in the review and approval of SOP’s
  • Review and Sign off on CAPA’s
  • Consistently bring positive energy and motivation to production teams through open dialogue, providing regular production progress updates, highlighting accolades, and giving constructive ongoing feedback to support employee development
  • Continuous analysis of current production processes and procedure, proposals for improvements, implementation and follow through on agreed upon changes.
  • Understand implications of departmental downtime and inefficient processing.
  • Ability to coordinate, contribute to and work within a cross-functional team.
  • Contribute to production planning and budgeting.
  • Facilitates production department staffing meetings, generating action plans impacting production department KPI’s.  Presents departmental metrics and action plans in management staff meetings.
  • Actively coaches all team members promoting continuous improvement and overall team development and cross training, including the Supervisory level.
  • Adheres to cGMP guidelines as well as the CFR.
  • Performing periodic reviews and development opportunities relating to Supervisors and key personnel.
  • Upholds Company policies, including the Professional Conduct Policy and Prohibition Against Harassment Policy, and the Business Ethics and Conduct Code.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma required; Bachelors degree preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in a GMP manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving experience.
  • Proven ability to motivate teams and manage conflict.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Stand, walk, push, pull, twist, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
  • Occasionally move items or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds – potential to handle heavier materials with mechanical assistance.
  • Occasionally required to climb ladders and/or steps to reach equipment.
  • Reading precision measuring equipment, machine dials, gages, and thermometers; must be able to observe fine details utilizing a microscope.
