EXPERIENCE/ REQUIREMENTS:

1 year minimum mechanical engineering experience; additional internship, co-op, or project experience preferred.

Intermediate understanding of:

  • Mechanical design fundamentals
    • Structures, vibrations
    • Mechanisms, machine components, etc.
  • Engineering calculations
    • Structural stress, strain, energy, etc.
    • Thermodynamics
    • Kinematics
    • Fluids
    • Heat Transfer
    • FEA, Creo Simulate preferred but not required
  • Technical documentation
    • Mechanical Drawings, Tolerancing, GD&T
    • Technical Specifications
    • Test Plans
    • Engineering Change Control
    • Bill of Materials
  • 2D and 3D CAD/modeling tools; ProE or Creo experience preferred
  • ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Applicable OSHA, ANSI, and CSA standards.

Intermediate knowledge of:

  • DFM/DFA procedures and processes
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Fabrication methods (welding, casting, forming, etc.)
  • Machining operations

Proficiency with Windows based PC operation and with Microsoft Office suite products.

Experience with Python programming is preferred but not required.

Willingness to learn machine design, manufacturing processes, and product standards.

Strong learning agility, attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.

Strong communication skills including technical writing.

May be required to work and/or travel as necessary to meet project schedules and/or accomplish goals and objectives.



JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Support mechanical design and analysis on assigned components and subsystems with little guidance.
  • Create or update models, layouts, drawings, and supporting calculations following standards and references.
  • Assist with BOM creation, documentation updates, and release support activities.
  •  Intermediate knowledge of major assemblies, functions, design requirements, and performance expectations of company products.
  •  Support manufacturing, purchasing, and assembly with technical questions as assigned.
  •  Participate in and document design reviews, technical discussions, and problem-solving activities as directed.
  •  Learn and apply company standards, safety requirements, and engineering practices to assigned work.
  • Work with designers/drafters and engineers to support documentation content and accuracy.
  •  Maintain organized technical records and clear documentation of assigned work.
  • Communicate technical information effectively across departments (electrical engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, management, etc.).
  • Practice continuous improvement to reduce costs with the department and company.
  • Participate in job planning and scheduling.
  • Take responsibility to ensure projects/tasks meet goals for cost, schedule and product performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
