Operations Supervisor – Dayton, OH

Gear Wash is the largest fully verified Independent Service Provider (ISP) of PPE care and maintenance in the world. As a subsidiary of Fire-Dex, we specialize in advanced cleaning, inspection, repair, alteration, and equipment customizations for first responders. When a firefighter’s gear needs cleaning or repair, we make sure it’s done right helping protect those who protect us!

We are currently seeking a qualified Operations Supervisor to lead our Dayton, OH location. This role manages day-to-day operations, supervises employees to meet production and project schedules, plans and assigns work, and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards. The Operations Supervisor will also interact with customers and corporate teams to ensure timely communication and exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Task & Workflow Management:
    1. Oversee movement of work orders throughout the warehouse to ensure timely completion.
    2. Monitor productivity and throughput using defined standards and goals.
    3. Pull and analyze reports for fire departments and internal reporting.
    4. Schedule employees based on workload and production demands.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    1. Ensure adherence to NFPA 1850/1851 standards and OSHA guidelines.
    2. Verify personnel are using appropriate PPE at all times.
    3. Collaborate in developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Leadership & Employee Management:
    1. Hire, onboard, coach, and supervise employees.
    2. Conduct employee performance reviews and issue warnings when necessary.
    3. Monitor attendance and resolve employee issues promptly.
  • Customer & Corporate Communication:
    1. Communicate efficiently and professionally with customers and corporate teams.
    2. Provide weekly updates on gear status for departments at GW location /Semi.
    3. Support Business Development team with account growth and customer visits as needed.
  • Administrative & Reporting Duties:
    1. Maintain invoicing accuracy and timeliness on a daily basis.
    2. Complete weekly operational reports and submit updates to corporate.
    3. Maintain and update written process and procedure guides.
    4. Support accounting with aging reports and related follow-ups.
  • Technical & Computer Skills:
    1. Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and learn new software systems.
    2. Develop strong working knowledge of PPE service tracking system.
    3. Use SharePoint for document management and collaboration.
    4. Be familiar with Concur for expense reporting and approvals.
  • Other Duties:
    1. Maintain equipment per company schedule and assist with general repairs.
    2. Lead successful completion of annual third-party verification program.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience in manufacturing, production, or operations.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 1850/1851 standards and OSHA compliance.
  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Concur.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 

Hours of Work

Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Flexibility required for business needs and supervisory coverage outside core hours.
