Overview

AmeriWater is a long-established industry leader in the design, manufacture, installation and supply of water purification systems and services for dialysis, industrial and healthcare applications. We are looking for a Production Supervisor to join our growing team in Dayton, Ohio!

Position Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of manufacturing operations in assigned areas. This role directly supports the Production Manager by ensuring that safety standards are upheld, personnel are developed and supported, processes run efficiently, and production goals are met. Plays a key role in enforcing policies, managing shift-level communication, ensuring proper staffing, and driving continuous improvement activities aligned with company KPIs.

Primary Responsibilities

People & Safety

  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture through daily coaching, observations, and feedback.
  • Monitor compliance with all safety procedures and use of PPE.
  • Support the development and onboarding of production employees through hands-on training and mentoring.
  • Help maintain an inclusive and respectful workplace by addressing performance and behavioral issues consistently and fairly.
  • Ensure standardized work and training documentation is current and followed by all team members.
  • Assist with interviewing, onboarding, and evaluating new production staff.
  • Maintain accurate shift and attendance records and participate in disciplinary actions when necessary.

Process Management

  • Ensure daily production targets are met while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust labor allocation to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Execute Leader Standard Work at the department level and ensure team adherence to SOPs and quality standards.
  • Participate in daily accountability and shift handover meetings.
  • Monitor production floor cleanliness and 5S compliance; identify and address deviations.
  • Support process documentation upkeep and coach operators in its application.
  • Escalate equipment, quality, or staffing issues to the Production Manager with proactive suggestions for resolution.
  • Track and report departmental performance data (output, scrap, downtime, etc.).

Continuous Improvement & Cost Reduction

  • Identify waste and inefficiencies in daily operations; lead or participate in improvement activities.
  • Encourage team members to share ideas for process or safety improvements.
  • Support lean initiatives including kaizen events, 5S audits, and standard work reviews.
  • Participate in cost-saving projects and process improvement initiatives assigned by the Production Manager.

Requirements 

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical training preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in a manufacturing environment, including one (1) year of team lead or supervisory experience.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, safety standards, and quality systems.
  • Ability to lead and motivate hourly employees in a fast-paced, flexible environment.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with ERP systems a plus.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts as needed to support operations.
