1st Shift Security Supervisor
Full‑time • $18.50/hr. – Bi‑weekly pay – Full benefits package

Location • Dayton, Ohio

Schedule • Weekend availability; 1st Shift: 8am-5pm, Friday through Tuesday

Classification • Non‑Exempt
Reports To • Security Manager

About the Role

The Security Shift Lead Officer supports the safety and security of students, staff, buildings, vehicles, and property. This role plays a central part in maintaining a secure environment through patrol, monitoring, dispatch, emergency response, and administrative duties.

This role is well‑suited for individuals with experience in:
• Security operations or shift leadership
• Law enforcement, fire safety, or military service
• Youth programs, mentoring, or residential environments
• Safety compliance or emergency response
• Investigations, incident reporting, and monitoring systems

You will work closely with center leadership, law enforcement, residential teams, and transportation staff while ensuring a safe, structured environment. Your work directly impacts student safety, campus security, emergency readiness, and operational consistency.

What You’ll Do

Security, Patrol, and Safety Enforcement
• Patrol buildings and grounds; check doors, windows, lighting, locks, appliances, and emergency equipment.
• Test fire systems and intrusion alarms and report any malfunctions.
• Respond to fire alarms; assist in suppressing fires and reset alarm equipment.
• Set up, monitor, and verify the operation of intrusion alarm systems.
• Enforce federal laws, state statutes, and center rules to maintain peace and safety.
• Provide gate/desk coverage; verify identification; ensure proper check‑in/check‑out procedures.
• Maintain student accountability and monitor campus movement.

Incident Response, Investigation, and Reporting
• Conduct searches, seizures, and confiscation of contraband in accordance with center policy.
• Assist staff and law enforcement in controlling disturbances or emergency situations.
• Prepare incident reports, preliminary investigations, and accident documentation.
• Audit shift logs, paperwork, and reports prior to submission to the Security/Transportation Manager.
• Maintain detailed records of findings, corrective actions, and safety concerns.

Transportation and Emergency Support
• Transport students for routine or emergency purposes.
• Assist in transporting ill or injured students, staff, or individuals to medical facilities.

Student Interaction and Culture Support
• Inform staff and students of unsafe conditions or practices.
• Model, mentor, and reinforce the center’s positive normative culture.
• Report unethical behavior and support continuous improvement efforts.

Operations and Accountability
• Serve as custodian for assigned center property.
• Suggest improvements that reduce waste and strengthen daily operations.
• Identify and report environmental health and safety concerns.
• Maintain a 75% or higher on employee scorecard.

Minimum Qualifications

Education
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree in criminal justice desirable (may substitute for experience)

Experience
• Two years of related experience required
• Prior management or leadership experience desirable
• One year of experience in firefighting, law enforcement, military service, or safety/security preferred
• Experience working with youth preferred

Skills and Competencies
• Ability to model and promote the Career Success Standards (CSS)
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Additional Requirements
• Valid chauffeur’s or driver’s license with acceptable record
• Valid I‑9 documentation to verify eligibility to work in the United States
• Must pass post‑offer background check and drug test
