The Illumination Works 2026 Internship Program runs from May 2026 to August 2026. Start and end dates within those months are flexible, ensuring a minimum internship duration of 10 or more weeks. Please note your availability, including start, end, and any vacation days/weeks on your Cover Letter.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to design, develop, test, and deploy software applications that support the company’s business goals
  • Write clean, maintainable code in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or other relevant languages
  • Assist in developing, testing, and maintaining APIs, microservices, and web applications
  • Contribute to the improvement of software architecture, scalability, and efficiency by applying best practices
  • Participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality software delivery
  • Work closely with data scientists and data engineers to integrate machine learning models and data solutions into applications
  • Communicate findings and present results to the project team, leadership, and fellow interns, providing clear recommendations and next steps 

Must have qualifications:

  • College senior or recent graduate in a 4-year university pursuing a degree in a relevant field (i.e., Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or other related scientific field) 
  • Minimum GPA of 3.4 on a 4.00 scale
  • Strong experience in software development and object-oriented programming, with proficiency in programming languages like Python, JavaScript, or similar
  • Familiarity with software development tools and version control (e.g., Git)
  • Knowledge of web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks (e.g., React)
  • Experience with database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Innovative, creative, out-of-box thinking with willingness to learn new skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Acceptable candidates must successfully pass a drug test, pass a background screen, and provide official transcripts
  • US Citizenship

Additional desired qualifications:

  • Experience working in an agile framework with tools such as Jira
