Job Summary

The Property Manager I supports the daily operations of assigned affordable housing communities, ensuring regulatory compliance, resident relations, and effective property administration. American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency is required to effectively communicate with hearing-impaired residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day property operations including administrative tasks, resident inquiries, and coordination of maintenance services

  • Ensure compliance with affordable housing programs including HUD, LIHTC, Housing Choice Voucher, COMBO, and RAD programs

  • Maintain accurate resident files, waiting lists, and documentation in accordance with regulatory guidelines

  • Support leasing activities including move-ins, lease renewals, and resident retention initiatives

  • Assist with rent collection, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting

  • Communicate occupancy requirements, lease terms, and community policies to residents

  • Address resident concerns and coordinate service requests

  • Provide accessible communication and support for hearing-impaired residents using American Sign Language (ASL)

  • Maintain property records and reporting within property management systems such as Yardi

  • Coordinate vendors and service providers to ensure maintenance and repair needs are addressed

  • Assist with property inspections, audits, and compliance reviews including MORs and State Agency inspections.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • 1–2 years of property management experience preferred, particularly in affordable housing, HUD, or LIHTC communities

  • Industry certifications such as COS, TCS, ARM, or SCHM preferred

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required

  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and property management software such as Yardi

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain compliance with housing regulations

  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance required

  • Ability to travel between communities as needed (25–50%)
