Position Summary:

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing all supply chain functions within a Lean manufacturing environment. This role oversees production scheduling, inventory management, material planning, material flow, warehousing, shipping and receiving, logistics, and material handling operations to ensure the efficient movement of materials from suppliers through production and delivery to customers.

The Supply Chain Manager drives continuous improvement initiatives that support safety, quality, delivery, inventory optimization, and cost reduction while ensuring uninterrupted production and exceptional customer service. This position works closely with Operations, Customer Service, Production, Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, and Finance to align supply chain activities with organizational goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Supply Chain Planning & Scheduling

  • Lead production scheduling and material planning activities to support customer demand and manufacturing capacity.
  • Manage MRP processes to ensure material availability while minimizing inventory investment.
  • Coordinate production schedules with Operations and Customer Service to meet delivery commitments.
  • Support demand forecasting, capacity planning, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activities.
  • Monitor schedule attainment and resolve supply chain constraints impacting production or customer deliveries.

2. Inventory Management & Material Flow

  • Develop and execute inventory strategies that support operational efficiency and customer service objectives.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical inventories, and effective inventory control processes.
  • Analyze inventory performance and implement actions to improve inventory turns while reducing excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction, productivity, and throughput improvements.

3. Warehouse, Logistics, Shipping & Receiving

  • Direct all receiving, warehousing, shipping, transportation, and internal material handling activities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate receipt of materials and shipment of customer orders.
  • Optimize warehouse utilization, storage methods, and material handling processes.

4. Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and develop scheduling, inventory control, warehouse, shipping and receiving, logistics, and material handling personnel.
  • Establish performance expectations and foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, Customer Service, and Finance to achieve business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain supply chain performance metrics and reporting tools.

5. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, production planning, warehousing, and logistics operations.
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

 

Education:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in field or similar area required
  • 10 years of experience in field or similar field preferred
