Registered Nurse- Oncology (Clinical Coordinator)

The Clinical Coordinator demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The individual demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and provides the care as needed.

The Clinical Coordinator demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The individual demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and provides the care as needed. 

JOB SUMMARY: 

  •  Responsible for coordinating the care and services, partnering with the oncologist, advocating for the patient and facilitating timely access to managing hematologic and oncologic care through the cancer care continuum.
  • Triage clinical phone calls from oncology/hematology patients using clinical critical thinking. Must provide exceptional patient experience. Communicates with physician/provider to help resolve patient issues.
  • Supports Physician/Provider in all aspects of clinic management and patient coordination. Hourly communication with physician/provider.  Assists in keeping patient on scheduled treatments and follow-up schedules.
  • Demonstrates professional development, accountability, and leadership in the performance of their professional nursing practice
  • Works with patients to ensure the ability to obtain their medications.  Educate patient on medication and check on adherence.
