The Opportunity: We are seeking a full time Collection Support Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for providing administrative, operational, and account-processing support to the Collections department. This position supports departmental workflow by completing assigned tasks accurately and timely while coordinating with branches, members, vendors, legal partners, and internal business units.
 Â
What You’ll Do:Â
- Handle sensitive member, legal, bankruptcy, deceased account, and credit-reporting matters with discretion, accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.Â
- Process and monitor deceased member loan accounts, including communications with decedents’ family members, trustees, attorneys, and other appropriate parties.Â
- Process bankruptcy account and notices, refer files to legal partners, and monitor bankruptcy cases through completion.Â
- Process charge-offs and judgments with accuracy and appropriate documentation.Â
- Complete system maintenance for loans, deposit accounts, and member-level records in applicable core systems.Â
- Access multiple applications for all non-branch channels, including DFCU online, debit/credit cards, and ChexSystems.Â
- Submit refinance loan applications, prepare required loan documentation.Â
- Process delinquent and non-delinquent extension requests, communicate decisions to members, and provide required documentation.Â
- Maintain working knowledge of Fair Credit Reporting Act requirements to support credit disputes, corrections, Core System credit bureau reporting standards, and member communications.Â
- Prepare departmental correspondence, legal documentation, internal forms, and reports, including monthly reports.Â
- Research, process, and complete member work requests in accordance with department procedures and service expectations.Â
- Open and operate the Teller platform and process delinquent non-cash payments.Â
- File deceased, credit life, and disability CUNA claim payments as required.Â
- Reconcile general ledger and corporate accounts in accordance with department procedures.Â
- Sort and distribute daily mail, order department supplies, and perform other related department duties as assigned.Â

What You'll Need:Â Â
- High school diploma or equivalent.Â
- Minimum six months of financial institution experience required.Â
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage daily workload and competing priorities.Â
- High attention to detail, sound judgment, and discretion when handling sensitive information.Â
- Proficient in Microsoft 365.    Â
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.    Â
- Able to initiate and embrace change.    Â
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, and ability to work in a team environment.  Â
