As a Process Control Engineering Intern at Cleveland-Cliffs, the projects assigned will vary based on the intern’s education level and plant location, but will generally reflect the duties outlined below.Â

Summary of Responsibilities:Â Â
Software development in a variety of programming languages and on a variety of hardware platformsÂ
Maintenance of computer hardware and softwareÂ
Maintenance and problem solving of all aspects of the automation systemÂ
Modifications to the automation system to adapt to new products and processesÂ
Address issues that may impact production or system reliabilityÂ
Process modeling for mill processes of a chemical, metallurgical and mechanical natureÂ
Administration of a variety of Operating Systems and relational databases on workstations and serversÂ
Work with complex measurement systems, such as:Â
Vision systems for product qualityÂ
Thermal imaging temperature measurementsÂ
RFID and barcode tag reading for product identificationÂ
X-ray, nuclear gauges, and other gauging systemsÂ
Work with networking technologies, high-speed data transmission, and specialty interfacesÂ
Close coordination with a production departmentÂ
Respond to routine and emergency requestsÂ
Manage local area project, task, and priority listsÂ
Make recommendations for system and process improvementsÂ
Work with vendors on products and performance issuesÂ
Coordinating with Research and Development and other staff departmentsÂ

Minimum Qualifications:Â
Enrollment in Bachelor of Science program in the field of Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related technical degreeÂ
Completion of sophomore year of study by the summer of 2026Â
Â
