Job Description:

 

 

General Description

 

Calibrates, repairs and replaces instrumentation; maintains electrical distribution system.

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities                                                                              

 

  1. Performs maintenance on electrical and electronic equipment.                             
  1. Preventive Maintenance (PMs) cleans, repairs and replaces switchgears, 

      distribution panels and breakers

  1. Terminates wiring in panels, on instruments or terminal strips
  2. PMs, installs, repairs and troubleshoots motors
  3. Uses standard testing and diagnostic equipment
  4. Installs and maintains lighting systems
  5. PMs, cleans and tests transformers
  6. Interprets drawings, schematics, ladder logic and wiring diagram
  7. Troubleshoots, PMs, cleans, repairs and replaces 

      standard instruments

  1. Tunes loops as requested
  2. Calibrates and verifies operation of remote operated valves
  3. Maintains and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  4. Maintains multi-variable controllers
  5. Maintains vibration analysis equipment
  6. Maintains control systems for prime movers
  7. Maintains flare control systems
  8. Troubleshoots instrument operations
  9. Interacts with operations to troubleshoot and resolve

      upsets due to instrument malfunctions

  1. Calibrates test equipment
  2. Calibrates quality instruments
  3. Interacts with engineers to fine tune multi-variable controllers
  4. Troubleshoots, repairs and replaces PLCs
  5.  Programs and configures PLCs
  6. Changes control logic and drive parameters
  7. Updates PLC ladder diagrams

 

 

 

 

 

                                                            

  1. Performs administrative duties.                                                                           
  1. Reviews trouble log and determines if maintenance is needed
  2. Records time against work orders
  3. Uses SAP to locate and order parts
  4. Updates equipment history in SAP 
  5. Navigates equipment specification data bases

 

  1. Performs Central Control Room equipment maintenance                          
  1. Maintains Global User Station hardware
  2. Troubleshoots, installs, repairs or replaces UPS
  3. Calibrates and maintains chlorine dioxide, oxygen sensors, 

      and smoke alarms; maintains records 

  1. Maintains radio equipment and PA system
  2. PMs, cleans, adjusts and repairs switchgears
  3. Tests batteries and maintains test records

 

  1. Performs maintenance on AC/DC drives .                                                           
  1. PMs, repairs and replaces variable speed drives
  2. Changes parameters on variable speed drives
  3. Troubleshoots using laptop and software       

 

  1. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.                        
  1. Maintains a clean and well organized work area
  2. Attends meetings as required
  3. Attends training as required
  4. Complies with all HSSE programs, policies and procedures
  5. Performs special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned

Qualification

Experience:

 

 

            

Education, Experience, Certifications Required: 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two year technical degree from an accredited institution in Instrumentation and Electrical Maintenance or other maintenance related field or 5 years’ experience in equivalent maintenance experience 
  • Work Key Certification; Workplace Documents (4), Graphic Literacy (4), Applied Math (4) and Applied Technology (4)
  • Ability to interpret MSDSs
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving capabilities
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical safety
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of predictive maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of failure analysis techniques
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Basic PC skills

 

Preferred Education, Experience, Certifications

  • Working knowledge of PSM Mechanical Integrity guideline
  • General knowledge of engineering standards, piping and equipment specifications, and materials of construction
  • Basic knowledge of plant processes
  • Thorough knowledge of plant equipment
