Job Description:

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Health Aide at Georgia Regional Hospital - Atlanta, located in Decatur, GA.

Salary Range - $36,608.00 - $40,144.00 based on experience 

Shifts:

7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Job Description:

Provide basic patient care and work with patients/clients to develop daily living skills. May take vital signs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Answers clients call signals
  • Assists in administration of medications and treatments, takes vital signs, and/or draws blood or collects other bodily fluids, as directed by a physician or nurse
  • Bathes, grooms, shave and dresses clients
  • Conducts activities for recreation and socialization
  • Ensures safety and security of clients
  • Feeds clients who are unable to feed themselves
  • Observes and documents patient data, behavior and activity
  • Prepares clients for treatment or examination
  • Provides clients with help walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed
  • Transports and/or accompanies clients to treatment units, using a wheelchair or stretcher
  • Receives additional training, as required, to gain full proficiency and experience in all areas.

FOR THIS TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT, STATE LAW REQUIRES A NATIONAL AND STATE BACKGROUND CHECK AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.  

Six months experience performing direct care activities, basic nursing procedures and/or training for persons with physical/mental health and substance abuse disabilities and/or recent military service in a related field.  Proficient in computer skills.

Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta  - 

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma/GED and six (6) months of experience in a related field; one (1) year of experience required at the lower-level Health Aide 1 (HCS020) or position equivalent.
