Job DetailsJob Location: Community Health Improvement Center - Decatur, IL 62521Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High SchoolSalary Range: $20.00 - $27.00 HourlyJob Category: AccountingJob Summary: The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of Crossing Healthcare, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This position is responsible for day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, general ledger maintenance, bank deposits, managing consumable and non-consumable inventory and payment processing. The role requires accuracy, confidentiality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment while ensuring compliance with FQHC regulations, federal and state requirements, and organizational policies. Supervisory Responsibilities: None  QualificationsDuties/Responsibilities: Prepare and post monthly journal entries to the accounting system. Record and reconcile daily bank deposits. Process and code Accounts Payable invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with budgetary guidelines. Enter and reconcile payments into the General Ledger system. Support supplementary billing and perform follow-up as assigned. Maintain complete and organized accounting records in accordance with GAAP and compliance standards. Assist with reconciliations of balance sheet and revenue/expense accounts. Ensure segregation of duties, accuracy, and timeliness of financial transactions. Support financial reporting requirements, including preparation of schedules for auditors and grantors. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer. Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Office, and electronic medical record (EMR) integration preferred. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment. Comfort working under pressure while maintaining accuracy and composure. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent 3-5 years’ experience required One to two years’ experience in health care setting desired Education or experience in accounting or bookkeeping desired Physical Requirements:  Primarily sedentary with occasional walking, standing, bending, and light lifting (1–5 lbs.). Standard office environment with regular use of computer and telephone.
