Machining Technician – Tool & Die Repair


Deco Products Company is hiring a Machining Technician – Tool & Die Repair in Decorah, Iowa. This hands-on role focuses on machining, repairing, and maintaining production tools and tooling components.

What You Will Do

  • Set up and run manual lathes and milling machines for tool repair work.
  • Use surface grinders and other tool room equipment to repair and maintain production tooling.
  • Machine, repair, and modify precision metal parts and tooling components.
  • Read and follow blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Use measuring tools to confirm accuracy, quality, and required tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot and repair production tooling, dies, molds, trim dies, and fixtures.
  • Document repair work and follow all safety procedures.

What We Are Looking For

  • Must be able to set up and operate manual lathes and milling machines for repair work.
  • Mechanical ability, machining interest, and willingness to continue learning are important.
  • Tool room, machining, tool and die repair, or related hands-on experience is preferred.
  • Technical college coursework or hands-on lab experience in machining, CNC machining, machine tool technology, or tool and die will be considered.
  • CNC machining experience is helpful, but this is not a production CNC operator role.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools is preferred.
  • Strong math, troubleshooting, attention to detail, and safe work habits are required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
