Job Description:
I. Position Summary:
Demonstrate a strong commitment to the philosophy and goals of the mission of Hebrew SeniorLife and recognize resident/patient dignity and choice in aspects of daily life. Work with team to meet all needs of the resident household by actively participating in activities, work and the social environment of the household. Strive to make every encounter with a resident/patient into positive and meaningful experience and opportunity. Repair, adjust and replace the entire sprinkler system, valves and the various fixtures and equipment served by this system and all other related plumbing/sprinkler parts/system. Acts as the facilities safety officer. Report to Chief Engineer. Collaborate with outside vendors as needed.
II. Position Accountabilities:
Core Functions:
- Respond to emergency calls
- Perform weekly, visual inspections for the detection of abnormal operation and correction of deficiencies
- Perform and document quarterly, and annual water flow testing throughout the entire campus
- Work from telephone maintenance requests and verbal and written work orders
- Work with inspectors from DPH as required
- Perform jobs assigned by the Director of Facilities or Chief Engineer
- Repair or replace defective sprinkler pipe equipment including but not limited to:
- Various pumps
- Sprinkler head cleaning
- Fire protection
- Sprinkler pipe inspections
- Piping for machinery
- Maintain an ongoing preventive maintenance program and maintain all logs or reports throughout the facility complex
- Keep all Mechanical rooms clean and organized
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times
- Keep a clean, safe work area
- Maintain an inventory and order stock as approved by the Facility Manager
- Coordinate outside sprinkler vendors and contractors if needed
- Coordinate shutdown of the various sprinkler systems with all the necessary staff
- Work according to all sprinkler codes
- Conserve resources and material
- Work within OSHA Safety Standards
- Assist in all other areas as needed
- Maintain the confidentially and security of all facility and patient related information (HIPPA)
- Reports any equipment found to be unsafe or broken immediately to a supervisor
- Puts Customer Service first: Ensures that residents an families receive the highest quality of service in a safe, caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights
- Subject to being called in for emergencies

Safety
- Identifies and reports errors/potential errors according to policy
- Uses equipment as trained and according to organizational policy
- Identifies malfunctioning equipment, removes from use, and reports according to policy
- Promotes health and safety of all by following established infection control procedures
 (i.e., hand washing, use of personal protective equipment).
- Report any violation of OSHA to supervisor
- Notify supervisor of any problems or delays in projects
- Report defective materials, faulty operation of equipment an unusual matters to Supervisor and appropriate personnel
Other
- Participates in department meetings as required
- Performs other related duties as required or directed
III. Qualifications
- Education level required High Scholl Diploma or equivalent
- Years of Experience Five years Sprinkler Testing experience
- Licensure/Board Certification Sprinkler Fitter License
