A Day in the LifeÂ
As a Group Leader in our Deer Park, TX lab, you'll be results-driven, technically grounded management role responsible for directing the daily operations in a high-throughput environmental laboratory. This position calls for an individual who combines strong analytical capability with an approachable leadership style, someone who sets clear expectations, coaches their team to meet them, and trusts people to deliver.
The compensation range for this role is $55,000 to $80,000, in addition to an annual bonus, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.  Â
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm, potential for overtime, weekend, holidays dependent on client needs.
To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:
Personnel supervision, timekeeping, and performance evaluationsÂ
Backlog management workflow monitoring, and operational efficiencyÂ
Accurate and timely communication between laboratory departments, Project Managers, and upper managementÂ
Sample analysis as needed following various published methodsÂ
Analytical method developmentÂ
Upload and review of data for inclusion in client reportsÂ
Solution, standard, and sample preparation as neededÂ
Occasional split shift and/or weekend dutiesÂ
Instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshootingÂ
Implementation of quality updates and process optimization strategiesÂ
Inventory of consumables, reagents, and instrument componentsÂ
Application of GLP in daily laboratory operationsÂ
Initiation and investigation of non-conformance issuesÂ
Compliance with our Quality Assurance Program, Health and Safety Plan, and other policiesÂ
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager, Technical Director, and/or Lab DirectorÂ
Laboratory position coverage/backfill as needed for operational continuityÂ
Your Expertise and SkillsÂ
These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here. Â
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related scientific field
3–5 years of laboratory experience in Ambient Air analytical testing
1-3 years of prior supervisory experience in a production laboratory environment, with a demonstrated ability to develop and lead teams
Demonstrated ability to organize workflows, manage competing priorities, and allocate personnel effectively
Experience handling non-routine samples and managing high-volume preparation schedules
Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Experience with Workday preferred
Experience in LIMS
