Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Estimator to join our team.  #ois  The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, detailed cost estimates for piping, mechanical, and turnaround projects. This role requires deep industry knowledge, strong analytical capability, and the ability to collaborate with planning, scheduling, engineering, and project management teams. The Senior Estimator will support bid development, resource forecasting, and execution planning to ensure competitive and reliable proposals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Estimating & Cost Development

  • Develop detailed cost estimates for piping, mechanical, and industrial turnaround projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Interpret project specifications, drawings, and scope documents to identify cost drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs for piping systems, mechanical equipment, structural components, and related work scopes.
  • Validate pricing using historical data, industry benchmarks, and vendor/subcontractor quotations.
  • Produce multi-discipline estimates (conceptual, budgetary, and final bid-level).
  • Identify potential cost risks, constraints, and assumptions, providing mitigation strategies where applicable.
  • Analyze estimate variances and contribute to lessons-learned activities for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in proposal reviews, bid clarifications, and client-facing presentations.
  • Coordinate with procurement, engineering, construction, and field teams to ensure thorough and accurate estimate development.
  • Support negotiation and award processes by providing cost breakdowns and justification.

Systems & Tools

  • Utilize estimating software, spreadsheets, and project management tools to prepare and maintain estimates.
  • Maintain standardized estimating templates and databases.
  • Ensure estimates comply with company standards, industry codes, and project requirements.

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial estimating or equivalent experience, in piping, mechanical, and turnaround environments.
  • Background in construction management, Planning or scheduling preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of refinery, petrochemical, and/or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Experience with turnaround planning and scheduling processes.

 

Skills and Competencies

  • Advanced understanding of piping and mechanical systems, codes, materials, and construction methods.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and work packages.
  • Strong proficiency in estimating software Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
