Join MAPEI Corporation, a global leader in the manufacturing of construction chemicals and building materials, including adhesives, sealants, and specialty products used in flooring, tile, and concrete restoration. MAPEI is seeking an experienced Head of Transportation to lead transportation strategy and operations across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. This position oversees a complex, high-volume network while driving freight-cost optimization, carrier performance, regulatory compliance, and reliable service to MAPEI facilities and customers.
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Lead transportation strategy and operations across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
- Manage freight spending, budgets, financial reporting, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Source, negotiate with, and manage carriers and logistics providers to ensure competitive pricing, capacity, and reliable service.
- Establish carrier performance scorecards and monitor service, cost, safety, and compliance.
- Optimize routing, shipment consolidation, equipment utilization, and transportation modes to improve cost and service.
- Oversee Transportation Management System procedures and compliance across MAPEI locations.
- Ensure compliance with FMCSA, DOT, hazardous materials, customs, import, and other applicable transportation regulations.
- Manage U.S. customs brokerage services, import procedures, and HTS tariff classifications.
- Oversee fleet driver and vehicle compliance, fuel and road-tax reporting, and driver safety training.
- Lead and develop the transportation team, promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
- Partner with manufacturing, warehousing, procurement, customer service, and finance to resolve transportation and service issues.
- Support inventory and distribution strategies by optimizing product movement and availability across MAPEI’s warehouse network.
- Perform assigned tasks in conformance with procedures and instructions established in the Business Management System (BMS) and in compliance with applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulatory requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

QualificationsÂ
- High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of four years of transportation management, logistics, and supervisory experience; an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
- Experience leading transportation operations within a multi-site manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Strong knowledge of carrier management, freight procurement, contract negotiation, and domestic, cross-border, and international transportation.
- Working knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, hazardous materials, customs, import compliance, and HTS tariff classifications.
- Strong leadership, analytical, financial, negotiation, communication, project-management, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management or related enterprise systems.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and the ability to travel as business needs require.
- Hazardous materials qualifications for ground, maritime, and air transportation required.
- MBA, APICS/ASCM or similar professional certification, and bilingual English/Spanish and/or Italian skills are a plus.
