The purpose of the Senior Hospital Operations Manager is to provide daily leadership to a minimum of two hospitals and partner with the Hospital Veterinarians. The Senior Hospital Operations Manager will also partner with our retail store partners to provide a smooth and profitable operation by creating a culture of high-quality patient care and exceptional customer service, as well as driving revenue and managing costs. The Senior Hospital Operations Manager represents the mission and values of their hospitals and Petco to all clients. The Senior Hospital Operations Manager coordinates the overall operations of their hospitals and cultivates a supportive and collaborative team environment by fostering cohesion and motivation within their teams. Essential Job Functions include providing operational leadership to a minimum of two hospitals, leading hospital paraprofessionals to drive operational excellence, acting as point person for day-to-day functions including scheduling, equipment maintenance, inventory control, invoicing, patient scheduling, team training, radiological safety, and handling client concerns. Oversees hiring, training, reviewing, counseling, and separation of paraprofessional partners. Assumes scheduling responsibilities and maintains hospital partner points. Reviews P&L reporting and partners with AOM to increase revenue growth and exceed financial targets. Develops monthly and weekly plans, builds sustainable models for reinvestment, escalates partner or client issues, interfaces with Petco store and Vetco clinic teams, schedules appointments, provides client education, maintains hospital inventory and records, manages accounts receivable, maintains OSHA standards, supports market meetings, assists in new hospital launches, and serves as point of contact coverage when AOM is out of office. Other duties include patient care prioritization, teamwork, front desk support, special projects, mentoring, and commuting between hospitals. The role reports to the Area Operations Manager and requires excellent planning, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Minimum requirements include 3-5 years veterinary practice experience, 3+ years management experience, P&L management, excellent communication, decision-making, compassion, telephone etiquette, basic computer skills, and adaptability. Desired qualifications include a bachelor's degree, multi-unit leadership experience, reporting and data analysis experience, and veterinary assistant/technician experience. The work environment involves physical activity and direct client and pet contact. The position requires regular communication with clients, specialists, store partners, and service providers.
