Clinical Director ASAM Low Intensity Residential Program

Vabode by SMARTS Recovery is looking for a Clinical Director to oversee our ASAM 3.1 programs in the Henrico, Virginia area. The Clinical Director will oversee male and female residential addiction programs, manage clinical staff, ensure treatment integrity, and adhere to regulatory compliance for a minimum of 20 hours per week. The role requires applying ASAM criteria, coordinating care with external providers, and ensuring state Medicaid and accreditation standards are met. 

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Oversight: Manage treatment services, review individual service plans, and ensure care matches medical necessity. 

Staff Supervision: Provide individual and group supervision to licensed counselors, peer support specialists, and associate-level staff. 

Regulatory Compliance: Maintain facility standards aligned with state licensing agencies, CARF/JCAHO accreditation, and ASAM guidelines. 

Care Coordination: Bridge gaps between residential housing staff, outside medical providers, and local managed care organizations (MCOs). 

Qualifications

Licensure: Must hold an active, independent Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) credential (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or licensed clinical psychologist) or state-approved addiction supervisor credential. 

Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive clinical experience in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. 

Knowledge: Deep fluency in The ASAM Criteria dimensions, local Department of Behavioral Health regulations, and evidence-based practices for co-occurring disorders
