Activity Director

About the Role

Deerfield Supportive Living is seeking an engaging, compassionate, and organized Activity Director to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and leading meaningful programs that enrich the lives of our residents while promoting social engagement, physical wellness, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being.

The Activity Director plays a vital role in creating a vibrant community atmosphere by planning events, coordinating daily activities, and encouraging resident participation. Working closely with residents, families, volunteers, and team members, you will help foster a welcoming environment where every resident feels valued, connected, and empowered to enjoy each day.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and lead a variety of recreational, educational, social, and wellness programs for residents.

  • Coordinate daily activities, community outings, holiday celebrations, and special events.

  • Develop individualized and group activities that accommodate varying interests, abilities, and levels of independence.

  • Encourage resident participation while promoting dignity, choice, and meaningful engagement.

  • Collaborate with department leaders, volunteers, entertainers, and community organizations to enhance programming.

  • Maintain activity calendars, attendance records, supply inventories, and program documentation.

  • Gather resident feedback to continually improve programming and resident satisfaction.

  • Ensure activities are conducted in a safe, inclusive, and resident-centered environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous experience working with older adults in supportive living, assisted living, senior living, healthcare, or recreational programming.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in activity programming, therapeutic recreation, event planning, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of dementia-friendly and person-centered activity programming.

  • Experience coordinating community partnerships, volunteers, and special events.
