Who We Are
Located 25 miles northwest of downtown Chicago, Rochelle Zell Jewish High School is a private, co-educational high school. Our mission is to create a culture of academic excellence that inspires and prepares our students to think critically, achieve their full potential, and live Judaism as responsible and involved citizens in the modern world.
Rochelle Zell offers a college preparatory program that combines a rigorous general studies education with a comprehensive Jewish studies education. Small classes and individualized instruction help students find their own voice, solve problems creatively, cultivate respect for individual differences, and develop a deep dedication to learning. Rochelle Zell also offers strong athletic and fine arts programs, as well as numerous extracurricular activities and leadership opportunities. Rochelle Zell opened its doors as Chicagoland Jewish High School (CJHS) in 2001 to 26 students and has continued to grow. Upon receiving a generous endowment from the Zell family, the school was renamed in honor of the Zell family matriarch, Rochelle Zell. Our current enrollment consists of 137 students drawn from over 20 communities in the Chicago area and beyond.
Who Weāre Seeking
Rochelle Zell Jewish High School is looking for an energetic, organized, and community-minded educator to lead our vibrant Student Activities program. This role sits at the intersection of school culture, student leadership, and community building. This position is ideal for someone who loves working directly with teenagers and believes deeply in the value of life outside the classroom.
This is a unique opportunity to join a highly professional faculty at a school that offers a robust and rigorous dual curriculum in General and Jewish Studies. The Student Activities Coordinator position has the potential to grow and evolve to support institutional needs and the individualās strengths. At minimum, qualified candidates must have earned a bachelorās degree with previous experience in both formal and informal educational settings.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesĀ ā Student Activities CoordinatorĀ
TheĀ Student Activities CoordinatorĀ reportsĀ directly toĀ theĀ Director of Jewish Life.Ā The Student Activities Coordinator also works closely with the Director of AdmissionsĀ &Ā Recruitment,Ā and the Academic Dean.Ā TheĀ Student Activities CoordinatorĀ isĀ responsible forĀ carrying outĀ the following duties and responsibilities:Ā
1. Student Leadership and Extracurricular Clubs/ActivitiesĀ
- Oversee 25+ student clubs end-to-endĀ
- Advise and support student governmentĀ (VaāadĀ HaStudentim)Ā
- Run Activities Fair and track participationĀ in clubs throughout the yearĀ
- Manage annual club leadership transitionsĀ
- Train and coach student leaders each fallĀ
- Recruit, engage, and cultivate student club leadershipĀ Ā
- Directly supervise several specific clubsĀ Ā
Ā
2. School Culture and EventsĀ
- Coordinate Spirit Week, Homecoming & PromĀ
- Support Jewish holiday programming throughout the yearĀ
- Plan and execute overnight retreatsĀ (Shabbatonim)Ā for studentsĀ Ā
- Support the planning of longer school tripsĀ
- Manage vendor relationships,Ā logistics,Ā andĀ budgetsĀ
Ā
3. Student SupportĀ
- Regular check-ins with new and transfer studentsĀ
- Ongoing wellness support for assigned studentsĀ
- Coordinate with counselorsĀ andĀ administratorsĀ
- Member of the Student Services team, which includes weekly meetings, and supporting studentsā social/emotional wellbeingĀ
- IdentifyĀ and promote potential student internship opportunitiesĀ
Ā 4. Recruitment and CommunicationsĀ
- ParticipateĀ in school recruitment and enrollment eventsĀ
- Support prospective studentĀ shadowĀ daysĀ
- Help manage student ambassador programĀ
- Contribute to school communications and social mediaĀ
Potential Ways to Expand the Role to Full TimeĀ
- Teaching in a General Studies or Jewish Studies content areaĀ
- Teaching an Arts and Electives courseĀ
- Leading a Tefillah elective and/or other involvement in the Tefillah programĀ
- Student data management supportĀ
- Coaching or other extracurricular activity leaderĀ
Contract Dates
August 10, 2026ā June 30, 2027
Compensation
$33,000 - $40,000 for the 0.6 FTE Student Activities Coordinator Role, based on degree and experience.
