Job Summary:

A Certified Sterile Technician maintains proper infection control procedures by cleaning, inspecting, assembling, wrapping, and sterilizing all reusable items at ProMedica.  

You will make sure aseptic procedures are followed and comply with appropriate policies while performing Central Sterile duties. In this role, you will manage OR stock and supplies, monitor PAR levels and order supplies as needed.  

This position also will help nursing staff with patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and transportation.

ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Clean, inspects, assembles, wraps, and disinfects or sterilizes all reusable items. Identifies and counts all instruments accurately. Prepares all instruments to ensure they are cleaned, inspected, assembled, wrapped, and sterilized according to appropriate practice standards.  
  • Adheres to cleaning and equipment cleaning schedule.  
  • Uses aseptic procedures and complies with appropriate policies in performing Central Sterile (CS) duties.  
  • Runs and maintains the Steris system according to standards and manufacturer’s operational procedures.  
  • Manages contaminated items using proper infection control procedures.  
  • Cleans and disinfects/sterilizes endoscopes according to manufacturer’s instructions.  
  • Appropriately and consistently uses proper personal protective equipment while performing duties.  
  • Maintains daily quality control records.  
  • Label instruments clearly and accurately follow department policy and procedures.  
  • Performs all related duties as requested or required.  
  • Other duties as assigned. 

REQUIREMENTS  

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent  
  • Years of Experience: Must have a concern for patient care, have an interest to complete the work accurately, economically and to collaborate well with people 
  • Certification:CPR, must obtain Central Sterile Certification within 1 year of hire
