Job Overview 

This position is responsible for greeting patrons and providing customer service to help resolve guest ticket issues at the San Diego County Fair. Cashiers in this position will be assigned to work on the Midway. Cashiers will be responsible for selling and assisting with ride and carnival tickets and Pay-One-Price Wristbands. Cashiers may also assist with the redemption of pre-purchased Midway items to guests.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:  

  • Greets patrons in a friendly and positive manner to provide a pleasant guest experience.  
  • Listens to, respondto, and resolves guest inquiries, complaints, concerns, and feedback in a professional manner and with a sense of urgency 
  • Learns and operates electronic equipment and software to process the following accurately: ticket sales, scanning and printing tickets, credit card transactions, calculating parking fees, reissuing tickets. 
  • Reports suspicious activity or atypical incidents and behavior to supervisor or security.  
  • Checks for availability in the system and provides customers with seating options or any information regarding their chosen show, concert, or event. 
  • Complies with all transaction procedures and guidelines for payment transactions. 
  • Follows opening and closing transaction procedures and reconciles daily transactions. 
  • Distributes will-call tickets by verifying all necessary customer information. 
  • Understands and explains ticketing policies and procedures to customers. 
  • Collects cash and electronic payments including returning change due to cash transactions. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested when needed. 
  • Promotes the District's F.A.I.R. values by creating a quality guest experience for both internal and external customers.


Qualifications 

  • Ability to interact with the public and staff in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner. 
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, good judgement and professionalism, customer service focused, quick learner with organization and problem-solving skills. 
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to apply basic mathematical skills. 
  • Prior cash handling experience preferred, but training will be provided. 
  • Being bilingual is a plus, as our patrons may speak a variety of languages. 
  • Basic knowledge of computer programs like Microsoft Office. 
  • Ability to adapt to change and can respond with patience in a difficult interaction with patrons. 
  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays (Fourth of July). 


Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in a variety of settings, which may include inside ticket booths, outside at kiosk stations, among patrons, in parking lots, or in line on busy days, often in a moderate to high noise environment. 
  • Work could require repetitive motions, sitting, standing, walking or a combination of these for extended periods. 
  • Job duties may involve exposure to weather conditions, dust, dirt, and exhaust fumes. 
  • Employees may be required to use hands and fingers to operate ticket scanning equipment and systems and move supplies up to 20 pounds.
