IT Specialist – Full Time

Technology that supports better care.

We are seeking a knowledgeable, service-oriented IT Specialist to support the technology needs of our growing Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This position plays an important role in keeping our team connected, our systems operating efficiently, and our technology secure so that our clinical and administrative teams can remain focused on providing high-quality care to the communities we serve.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who is comfortable supporting end users, troubleshooting hardware and software, managing access and equipment, and working with vendors and technology partners. Experience with data analytics, reporting, dashboards, or healthcare data is a strong plus and will provide an opportunity to contribute beyond traditional IT support.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to team members across clinical and administrative locations, including troubleshooting hardware, software, network, printer, telephone, and connectivity issues.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for IT support requests, resolving issues directly when possible and escalating more complex matters to appropriate vendors or technology partners.

  • Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and replace computers, laptops, monitors, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and other technology equipment.

  • Set up technology, system access, and equipment for new hires, transfers, and other personnel changes in coordination with Human Resources and department leadership.

  • Promptly disable or modify system access when team members separate from the organization or change roles.

  • Administer and maintain user accounts, permissions, passwords, email accounts, shared drives, and other assigned systems in accordance with established security protocols.

  • Assist with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and other business applications.

  • Support technology used within the clinical environment, including workstations, peripheral devices, and interfaces necessary for patient care operations.

  • Provide technical support related to the organization's Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other healthcare applications, working with application vendors as appropriate.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity, Wi-Fi, VPN, and other infrastructure-related concerns.

  • Assist with cybersecurity initiatives, including endpoint security, access controls, phishing awareness, system updates, and other safeguards designed to protect organizational and patient information.

  • Support compliance with HIPAA Security requirements and organizational policies related to electronic Protected Health Information (ePHI), confidentiality, access, and information security.

  • Maintain accurate inventory and documentation of computers, mobile devices, software licenses, peripherals, and other technology assets.

  • Coordinate equipment deployment, replacement, repair, and disposal while maintaining appropriate documentation and security controls.

  • Work with third-party IT vendors, telecommunications providers, software vendors, and other partners to troubleshoot issues and coordinate projects.

  • Assist with system upgrades, implementations, migrations, testing, and other technology projects.

  • Develop and maintain IT procedures, troubleshooting guides, system documentation, and other technical resources.

  • Educate team members on basic technology use, cybersecurity practices, and appropriate handling of organizational information.

  • Identify opportunities to improve technology processes, system utilization, workflow efficiency, and the overall end-user experience.

  • Participate in organizational quality improvement, compliance, emergency preparedness, and other initiatives as assigned.

Data & Analytics – A Big Plus

While this is primarily an IT support position, we would especially like to hear from candidates who can also help us turn data into useful information.

Experience in any of the following areas is highly desirable:

  • Extracting, cleaning, validating, and analyzing data from multiple systems.

  • Creating recurring operational, clinical, financial, or quality reports.

  • Developing dashboards and visualizations that help leadership monitor trends and performance.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, charts, data validation, and data manipulation.

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar reporting and business intelligence tools.

  • Identifying data inconsistencies and working with departments to improve data integrity.

  • Automating routine reports or improving manual reporting processes.

  • Working with healthcare data, EHR reporting, quality measures, population health data, or FQHC reporting.

  • Supporting data needs related to UDS, quality improvement, operational performance, or other healthcare reporting requirements.

  • Translating data into clear, meaningful information for leadership and non-technical users.

What We’re Looking For

  • Associate degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant IT support, help desk, systems support, or related technology experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, computer hardware, printers, networking, and common business applications.

  • Experience administering user accounts, permissions, and technology equipment.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify problems, research solutions, and follow issues through resolution.

  • Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, including access controls, password security, endpoint protection, phishing, and data protection.

  • Ability to explain technical information clearly and patiently to users with varying levels of technical experience.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and support requests.

  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive organizational and patient information.

  • Ability to travel between organizational locations as needed.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as applicable to job responsibilities.

What Will Help You Thrive Here

  • Previous IT experience in a healthcare setting, FQHC, community health center, medical practice, or other clinical environment.

  • Experience supporting an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.

  • Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security requirements as they relate to information technology.

  • Experience supporting multiple locations or a distributed workforce.

  • Experience with healthcare reporting, data analytics, or business intelligence.

  • Advanced Excel skills.

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar tools.

  • Experience creating dashboards, automated reports, or executive-level reporting.

  • Familiarity with UDS, HRSA reporting, population health, quality measures, or healthcare performance data.

  • Experience working with IT vendors, managed service providers, or software implementation teams.

  • Relevant technology certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, or similar certifications.

Why Community Health?

Working in an FQHC means technology has a direct connection to patient care. Reliable systems help providers access the information they need, allow team members to serve patients efficiently, protect sensitive health information, and support the data used to understand and improve the health of our communities.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work across departments, solve meaningful problems, and help strengthen the technology and data infrastructure behind an organization committed to serving its community.

Full-Time Benefits

Eligible full-time team members have access to a comprehensive benefits package that may include:

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage

  • Employer-sponsored and voluntary benefit options

  • 403(b) retirement plan

  • Paid time off and paid holidays

  • Employer-paid benefits, as applicable

  • Professional development and training opportunities

  • Employee assistance and wellness resources

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position operates in both administrative and clinical healthcare environments and may require travel between organizational locations. The role regularly involves working at a computer and may require standing, bending, reaching, moving equipment, working beneath desks or in technology closets, and lifting or carrying computers, monitors, printers, and other technology equipment.

The IT Specialist must be able to respond to technology needs throughout the organization and may occasionally be required to provide support outside of regular business hours for urgent system issues, planned upgrades, or other operational needs.

Bring your technical skills, problem-solving mindset, and curiosity for data to a role where technology helps make quality healthcare possible.
