Medical Assistant

Northeast Florida Health Services, Inc., dba Family Health Source, is seeking a dependable, patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our clinical team.

As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Family Health Source provides comprehensive healthcare services to individuals and families throughout our communities. Our Medical Assistants are an essential part of the care team, working alongside providers and clinical staff to create an efficient, welcoming, and positive experience for every patient.

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, adaptable, organized, and comfortable supporting both pediatric and adult patient populations in a fast-paced primary care environment.

What You’ll Do

As a Medical Assistant, you will provide both clinical and administrative support to help keep patient care running smoothly. Responsibilities include:

  • Welcome and room patients, verify patient information, and obtain and document vital signs

  • Review and accurately document medical history, medications, allergies, and chief complaints in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

  • Prepare examination rooms and patients for visits

  • Assist providers with physical examinations and minor procedures

  • Administer vaccines and medications via oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal routes in accordance with established protocols

  • Perform venipuncture and collect specimens as needed

  • Perform point-of-care testing, including glucose, HbA1c, rapid strep, lead screening, respiratory illness screening, urine dipstick, and pregnancy testing

  • Conduct age-appropriate vision and hearing screenings

  • Perform EKGs, spirometry, and basic wound care when ordered

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR

  • Process medication refill requests in accordance with clinic procedures

  • Assist with referral authorizations, prior authorizations, lab and imaging results, and specialist documentation

  • Schedule follow-up appointments and assist with patient recall and reminder activities

  • Maintain clean, properly stocked exam rooms and monitor medical supplies

  • Follow infection prevention and safety protocols

  • Participate in team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and other activities that support excellent patient care

  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA requirements and Family Health Source policies

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program required

  • Current Medical Assistant certification — CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA required

  • Strong clinical skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and patient-service skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment

  • Commitment to providing compassionate care to diverse patient populations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Medical Assistant experience in primary care, community health, or an ambulatory care setting

  • Experience working with both pediatric and adult patients

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Experience with eClinicalWorks

  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills are a plus

  • Previous FQHC or community health experience is a plus

Float Expectations

This position supports our clinical operations across the Family Health Source service area. Candidates should be comfortable working at different locations based on staffing and patient-care needs.

  • Provide coverage at our Pierson, DeLand, Deltona, and Daytona locations as needed

  • Travel between clinic locations within the service area

  • Provide coverage based on real-time staffing, patient volume, and operational needs

  • Adapt to different providers, care teams, workflows, and patient populations

  • Maintain consistent quality and professionalism regardless of assigned location

Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between assigned locations are essential for this position.

Schedule & Locations

Locations: Pierson | DeLand | Deltona | Daytona, Florida

Hours of Operation: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m.

The scheduled shift will fall within our hours of operation and may vary based on the assigned location and operational needs.

This is an on-site position and is not eligible for remote work.
