POSITION SUMMARY 

The essence of the Paint Prep Technician’s role is to prepare all pieces and products for paint while keeping a high-quality standard.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares products by doing light bodywork, sanding, blocking, filing, and priming
  • Assists Lead Painter in preparing products for paint
  • Places products for painting on movable platforms
  • Moves and stages painted products in the drying room
  • Responsible for overseeing paint and prep material inventory
  • Keeps work area clean and organized
  • Communicate ideas and issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure high-quality standards.
  • Work in a team-orientated manner.
  • Inspect refurbished materials, assess conditions, and make recommendations for future improvements.

ATTRIBUTES

  • Able to prepare products for paint application.
  • Able to stand and prep all parts for extended times throughout the shift.
  • Able to sand and finish the product before painting.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years experience required
  • Previous experience in auto body paint preparation is preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Experienced with hand tools and sanding devices.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

The target hourly range is $22.00 - $27.00, depending upon qualifications and experience. The posted pay range reflects the expected compensation for a fully qualified candidate. Starting pay may be above or below this range based on job-related factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, and training needs.

In addition to hourly pay, the compensation package also includes eligibility for profit-sharing and monthly bonus opportunity.
