Position: Accounting Manager

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

FLSA Status: Full-time, Exempt

Position Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of SourcePoint, a mission-driven organization, ensuring regulatory compliance and fund accounting accuracy. Within SourcePoint’s Fiscal/Operations department, they manage day-to-day bookkeeping, grant tracking, and internal audits, while providing critical financial reports to senior leadership, the board of directors, and funding agencies. This role ensures the accuracy and timeliness of accounting practices and collaborates closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to support SourcePoint’s financial health and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Operations

· Supervise and support a team of two staff members handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management processes.

· Manage all general ledger entries, including cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.

· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, track program budgets, and analyze variances to support organizational planning.

· Monitor restricted funds, allocate expenses, and prepare detailed financial reports required by grantors and donors.

Compliance and Controls

· Maintain accounting controls and recommend policy improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial requirements by staying informed of relevant legislation.

· Establish and periodically review internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure adherence to internal policies.

Budget and Audit

· Lead the preparation and presentation of the annual budget in collaboration with the CFO.

· Coordinate the annual audit and Form 990 preparation with the guidance of the CFO.

Process Improvement and Analysis

· Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance operational efficiency; collaborate with the CFO to implement improvements.

· Support financial forecasting and predictive modeling efforts to inform strategic decision-making.

Cross Departmental Collaboration

· Work closely with other departments on financial planning, budgeting, and reporting to support organizational goals.

· Participate in management meetings to support agency initiatives.

· Liaise with third-party vendors and respond to inquiries as needed.

Staff Development

· Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team by identifying training opportunities, providing constructive feedback, and conducting performance evaluations.

Other Responsibilities

· Manage bank transfers and maintain payee information.

· Maintain the chart of accounts for general and subsidiary ledgers.

· Review grants, perform financial analysis, and conduct research as assigned.

· Additional responsibilities may be assigned to support organizational needs.


Requirements

  

Qualifications and Skills:

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field with 3–4 years of relevant accounting experience, a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Strong proficiency with accounting software, including NetSuite and Peachtree/Sage, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

· Deep understanding of non-profit GAAP, fund accounting, and grant compliance.

· Familiarity with financial modeling and data visualization tools, such as Power BI or Tableau, is a plus.

· CPA or CMA certification is preferred but not required.

· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and meet deadlines consistently.

· Ability to lead with integrity, demonstrate professionalism, and project a positive image of the organization.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

· Ability to remain stationary for extended periods (approximately 50% of the time).

· Occasional movement within the office to access files and equipment.

· Frequent computer use and communication with other departments.

· Capacity to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and to perform extensive reading and data analysis.

Other Considerations:

As part of a dynamic organization, the Accounting Manager, it will be necessary to take on new responsibilities to ensure smooth and continuous operations. It is also anticipated that other organizational needs will emerge from time to time which will be assigned to the Accounting Manager.
