Lifeguard Position — Meek Aquatics Facility 


Purpose/Objective of the Role:

Ohio Wesleyan University is seeking currently certified American Red Cross Lifeguards to support programming and aquatic activities at the Meek Aquatics Facility. Schedule: 

  • Hours vary throughout the week and may include the following shifts: 
    • Weekdays: 5:00–9:30 a.m., 12:00–2:00 p.m., 4:00–7:00 p.m., and 7:00–9:30 p.m. Saturdays: 
    • Varying hours based on scheduled swim meets and facility programming Sundays: 
    • 12:00–4:00 p.m. to support club swim team activities 
    • This position is an excellent opportunity for students who are currently certified by the American Red Cross as a Lifeguard and are interested in working in a dynamic aquatic facility environment.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all members, participants, and guests using the pool facility. Actively monitor the pool, surrounding deck areas, and aquatic activities at all times. 
  • Inspect and ensure the proper operation and readiness of lifeguarding and aquatic safety equipment. 
  • Conduct and accurately document daily pool chemical and water quality checks. 
  • Enforce all Athletic Department, facility, and pool safety policies and procedures. 
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies and follow established emergency action protocols.


Qualifications: 

  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid Training Certifications
