Wieland is hiring a Quality Engineer. The Quality Engineer is a key contributor to ensuring compliance with quality standards in our manufacturing environment. This role focuses on quality inspection, testing, and calibration processes while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining proper documentation. The Quality Engineer works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to uphold product integrity and customer satisfaction. This role is located in Delaware, OH and will be fully on-site. 

Responsibilities

Quality Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Actively supports the department by sustaining current processes while identifying and driving opportunities for continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (SOPs, Work Instructions, and Quality Records) through thorough and consistent review.
  • Responsible for managing supplier quality claims and supporting customer claims and quality requests. Leads or supports root cause analysis, implementation of corrective and preventive actions, and provides timely feedback to Suppliers, Production, Customers, as required.
  • Serves as the primary quality interface for supplier development activities, with a strong focus on North American suppliers, including performance monitoring, corrective action follow-up, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Owns all supplier-related quality topics and documentation, including PPAPs, 8D reports, deviations, waivers, and supplier change or concession requests.
  • Coordinates quality control activities for incoming parts and materials, including inspection planning, sampling strategies, non-conformance handling, and collaboration with Receiving, Production, and Suppliers to ensure conformity to specifications.
  • Supports the sustainability of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications by participating in annual internal audits across all identified processes and supporting external audit readiness.
  • Tracks, analyses, and reports Quality KPIs and provides timely, data-driven reports to Management.

Quality Engineer Qualifications:

  • BS in Material Science or Engineering and /or equivalent comprehensive experience in the field.
  • Experience with ISO certifications.
  • Experience in QA tools such as PPAP, Process FMEA, Control Plan, Risk Assessment, Internal Audits, and Gauge Management and Calibration.
  • Ability to travel to suppliers and other company locations as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible work hours and overtime, as needed.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and extensive knowledge of LEAN tools and techniques for improvement.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Previous experience in a similar industry is beneficial.
  • Proficient in SAP, Factory Suite, data entry, daily/monthly reports, and MS Office is required.
