Job Summary

The Research Scientist Domain Lead - ThermodynamicsĀ will lead Vertiv's advanced thermodynamics research initiatives focusing on next-generation cooling paradigms for critical infrastructure. Drive innovation in thermal management technologies including hybrid cooling systems, direct-to-chip solutions, and advanced heat exchange methods. Develop breakthrough solutions for increasing power densities and AI workload thermal challenges.

This role reports to the Advanced Research and Technology Leader and is based in Delaware, OH.Ā 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead research programs in advanced thermal management and cooling technologiesĀ 
  • Drive innovation in next-generation cooling solutions including: Hybrid 1 & 2 phase Direct-to-Chip Cooling, Heat-reuse Architectures, Natural Refrigerants, Cryogenic Cooling systems, Nano-particle fluid additivesĀ 
  • Design and validate new cooling paradigms for high-density computingĀ 
  • Develop thermal solutions for AI and high-performance computing applicationsĀ 
  • Lead experimental programs for new cooling technologiesĀ 
  • Collaborate with Power Systems and Materials teams on integrated solutionsĀ 
  • Partner with universities and research institutions on thermal innovationĀ 
  • Drive intellectual property development in thermal managementĀ 
  • Provide technical guidance on thermal architecture and cooling strategiesĀ 
  • Present research outcomes to executive leadership and customers

Requirements:

  • PhD or Master's degree in relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Thermodynamics and Cooling research or applied development.
  • Strong publication or patent record preferred.
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration and external engagement.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Travel: Ā 10% travel for research collaboration, conferences, and customer meetings
  • Physical and Environmental Demands: Ā 
    • Laboratory and office environmentĀ 
    • Ability to work with various cooling systems and test equipmentĀ 
    • May require work in data center environments
