Job Summary
The Research Engineer - Proof of Concept Software will software prototype development and validation for Vertiv's advanced research initiatives. Transform theoretical concepts into working software solutions across infrastructure management, control systems, and AI/ML applications. Drive innovation through development of next-generation software for critical infrastructure systems.
This role reports to the Advanced Research and Technology Leader and is based in Delaware, OH.
Responsibilities:
- Lead development of proof-of-concept software for research initiatives
- Create prototype applications for: AI-driven control systems, Digital twin implementations, Edge computing solutions, Infrastructure management platforms, Advanced monitoring and analytics
- Design software architectures for new technology concepts
- Develop integration frameworks for hardware/software systems
- Lead software validation and testing processes
- Collaborate with Research Domain Leads on software requirements
- Create technical documentation and deployment guides
- Guide software implementation and testing
- Support cross-functional integration of software solutions
- Develop scalable and maintainable code bases
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in software development and prototyping.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or Java and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks.
- Experience with UI/UX design and rapid prototyping tools.
- Strong collaboration and agile development skills.
- Travel: 10-15% travel for development and integration activities
- Physical and Environmental Demands:
- Laboratory and workshop environment
- Ability to work with various tools and equipment
- May require lifting up to 50 pounds
- Extended periods in laboratory settings
