PRIMARY JOB OBJECTIVE: Plans, supervises, and coordinates all production department activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for supervision of Department personnel and their activities to meet Department objectives. Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to employees and assign duties. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists employees in solving work problems. Responsible for controlling overtime of the Department. Responsible for controlling absenteeism.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the Department's efficiency.
- Responsible for the interviewing, selection, and orientation of subordinates to the Department; ensures the subordinates receive training and development consistently with their responsibilities.
- Recommends personnel actions, such as wage increases, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures. Interprets company policies to employees. Handles first step in employee counseling.
- Responsible for Performance/Wage review of all subordinates a minimum of once each year.
- Responsible for Production and Personnel reports and record keeping.
- Responsible for Safety, Security, First Aid, and Good Housekeeping within the Department. Encourages, promotes, and enforces Company policies in these areas.
- Responsible for upward and downward communications on a regular basis to ensure smooth Department operations. Communicates to Superiors specific Department objectives, their progress and completion.
- Works with the Scheduler to assure material, equipment, and manpower is available to meet production schedules.
- Responsible for employee education and implementation of company policies and procedures to meet the company's requirements including environmental and quality standards.
- Works with the Quality Assurance department to improve product quality.
- Must be able to accept special assignments and complete them in a timely manner.
- Must understand and be able to utilize the company's systems that are required of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Production and Operations Management or equivalent job experience as a production supervisor. One to three years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing/job shop environment. Knowledge of LEAN concepts. Experience interpreting blueprints and using measuring equipment devices (e.g., micrometers, comparator, etc.). Basic knowledge and understanding of workplace safety. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
