Emergency Medical Services Faculty

- 45% Provides instruction in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings as assigned. Maintains academic standards as established by the College, Department of Health Sciences, and the EMS Program. Meets classes as assigned and provides assistance to students outside of class.
- 20% Coordinates with the Clinical Coordinator for student clinical experiences to meet clinical objectives and maintains collegial attitude with clinical sites.
- 15% Works as a team member in the EMS Department; complies with the “faculty responsibilities” as outlined in the EMS Faculty Handbook, and College’s Policy and Procedures Manual. Serves on college committees and task forces as requested.
- 5% Assists in budget planning and selection of textbooks and other teaching aids.
- 5% Participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating all EMS courses, continuing education courses, and community outreach courses.
- 5% Participates in recruitment, registration, and mentoring of current and future EMS students.
- 5% Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of EMS Education.

Qualifications:
1. Position requires an Associate's degree at a minimum. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
2. Must be certified by a nationally recognized certifying organization at an equal or higher level of professional training than the Emergency Medical Profession being taught.
3. EMS Instructor Certification, or obtain through the Texas Department of State Health Services within one year of employment date.
4. Certifications required: (1) American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PAL Instructor certifications (or obtain within one year of employment); (2) Stop the Bleed Instructor Certification (or obtain within one year of employment); (3) any other certification as required by the Director of EMS Education or CoAEMSP.
5. Three years of full-time verifiable clinical experience in a related field of medicine is required.
6. Proficient in planning, instruction, evaluation and data analysis.
7. Demonstrated ability to work with at-risk and diverse student populations.
8. Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills and team-based patient care delivery.
9. Ability to work as a team player in helping the EMS Department grow and improve.
