The Network Configuration Engineer is responsible for ensuring telecommunications systems are fully configured, validated, and deployment-ready prior to field installation. This role owns the accuracy and performance readiness of network configurations, directly impacting installation efficiency, first-time-right deployment success, and overall project margin.
By translating engineering designs into fully functional configurations, this role reduces field rework, accelerates deployment timelines, and ensures high-quality, customer-ready network solutions across Telamon’s infrastructure portfolio.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Configuration Ownership & Implementation
- Configure telecommunications equipment—including optical transport, carrier switching, power systems, and network alarming systems—based on engineering specifications.
- Own configuration accuracy and system readiness prior to deployment to the field.
- Integrate multi-vendor technologies (Ciena, Fujitsu, Nokia, and Infinera) into standardized and customer-specific solutions.

Technical Validation & System ReadinessÂ
- Validate configurations against engineering designs, performance requirements, and customer specifications prior to release.Â
- Execute system-level testing to ensure configurations meet operational, environmental, and performance standards.Â
- Ensure all systems are deployment-ready, minimizing installation risk and post-installation defects.
Â
Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution
- Diagnose and resolve configuration and performance issues during pre-deployment stages.Â
- Lead technical problem-solving for escalated configuration issues, coordinating with engineering, project teams, vendors, and customers as needed.Â
- Identify root causes of configuration errors and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Documentation & Change Control
- Develop and maintain accurate configuration documentation, test results, and change records.Â
- Ensure all configuration changes are traceable, controlled, and compliant with ISO/TL9000 standards.Â
- Maintain documentation quality to support downstream teams (field installation, operations, and support).
Â
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support
- Partner with engineering, project management, and field teams to ensure seamless transition from design to deployment.Â
- Provide technical guidance to internal teams and customers related to configuration, testing, and system readiness.Â
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline configuration processes and improve deployment outcomes.
- Actively identifies and implements improvements to processes, tools, and workflows to enhance efficiency, quality, and business outcomes. Leverages available tools and technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and enhance outcomes.

Skills and Abilities Required
Technical Expertise
- Experience configuring and integrating telecommunications systems across multiple platforms and vendors.Â
- Working knowledge of optical networking technologies (e.g., DWDM, OTN, SONET, Carrier Ethernet, Open ROADM).Â
- Understanding of system testing, validation processes, and deployment readiness requirements.Â
- Familiarity with ISO/TL9000 or similar quality standards.
- Proficiency with standard office and documentation software.

Education and Experience Required
- Associate’s degree in network engineering or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years’ related network engineering or deployment experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting end-to-end network deployment or turn-up activities.Â
- Exposure to engineering project environments and vendor coordination.Â
- Continuous improvement mindset with demonstrated process optimization experience.
