The Automation Specialist primary responsibility will be focused on PLC integration working in the Automation Construction and Commissioning Team. The duties in the role include creating and validating PLC programming from engineered designs in Oil and Gas facilities. This role will also be accountable for the successful execution of automation projects working with production operations and engineering departments to support the efficient production of oil and gas, following company and industry standards.We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Automation Specialist in Carlsbad, NM. Â
Experience/Requirements:Â Â
- Minimum 3 years working experience in Oil and Gas as an automation technician maintaining field well pads/facilities automation control systems and devices preferredÂ
- Must have valid driver’s license and exceptional driving recordÂ
Â
Roles and Responsibilities:Â
- All aspects of facility commissioning with focus on automation control systemsÂ
- Automation Commissioning of facilities following engineered designs using engineering documentationÂ
- Communicate with Automation Engineering and Facilities Engineering regarding design issues and redline documents as necessary for final as-built documentationÂ
- Deliver scheduled projects on timeÂ
- Communicate project status and report to key stakeholders for planning efficiencies and delivery dates Â
- Participate in the design of automation PLC programs and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for well pads and facilities Â
- Program PLCs and HMIs to comply with engineering documentation with emphasis on Allen Bradley PLCs and Compact Logix control systems Â
- Troubleshoot complex PLC programs, RTUs, and HMIsÂ
- Troubleshoot and resolve Process Control, Control Network, and Instrumentation issuesÂ
- Skillful at learning and applying diverse automation software application toolsÂ
- Communicate with external and internal stakeholders as neededÂ
- Enforce management of change (MOCs) and monitor tasks for complianceÂ
- Assist in evaluation of new Oil and Gas production/automation technologiesÂ
- Work with IT and Automation Engineering in maintaining automation standards Â
- Provide training and knowledge sharing with automation support personnel and production operationsÂ
- Make recommendations on automation improvements, best practices, maintenance and standardization of PLC and Operator interface systemsÂ
- Stay current on certification and training requirementsÂ
- Work weekends and support after hour call outs  Â
Â
Professional/Technical Knowledge:Â Â
- Knowledge of RTUs. and PLCs. Understanding of digital and analog I/O, programming, and troubleshooting.Â
- Strong knowledge of automation and electrical design principles and industry standards.Â
- Understanding of Pre-Start Safety Review process (PSSR)s and Management of Change (MOCs).Â
- Understanding of Oil and Gas production facility processes and control systems Â
- Proficient in use of engineering documents such as Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Cause & Effects (C&Es), Control Narratives, Wiring Diagrams, etc. Â
- Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming Â
- Be knowledgeable with tagging conventions, programing simulation and testing Â
- Possess computer skills in Excel, Word, and OutlookÂ
Education:Â Â
2-year technical degree or equivalent working experience Â
