Position Summary
The Barista is responsible for preparing high-quality coffee and espresso beverages quickly and accurately, following Olive & Finch recipes and build guides. This role performs all FOH Crew and Cashier responsibilities, ensuring a seamless guest experience while maintaining a clean and organized café environment. As a Crew Level 3 position, the Barista plays a critical role in representing the Olive & Finch brand and delivering excellent hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all FOH Crew responsibilities including greeting guests, bussing tables, running food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and organized dining area.
- Perform all Cashier responsibilities including ringing in orders, processing payments, reconciling cash drawers, and selling gift cards.
- Prepare and serve coffee, espresso beverages, and other drinks according to Olive & Finch recipes and build guides.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment to ensure optimal quality and consistency.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar area, including restocking supplies as needed.
- Provide friendly, efficient service to guests and answer questions about menu items.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures, including proper milk handling and equipment cleaning.
- Collaborate with FOH and BOH teams to ensure smooth service and uphold brand standards.
Qualifications
- Previous barista or specialty coffee experience preferred but not required.
- Excellent guest service and communication skills.
- Ability to learn and consistently follow recipes and build guides.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work quickly while maintaining quality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and stay calm under pressure.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Availability to work mornings, weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Reporting Structure
Reports to the General Manager. This position does not have direct reports.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on, guest-facing position requiring extended periods of standing, walking, and working with hot equipment. Must be able to bend, lift, and move quickly to support service. Shifts may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
